My Life, My Books is a new feature here at One A Day Y.A. where I share everything (Y.A. and) bookish that has been happening in my life in the past month whether that be on the blog, getting new books, watching tv and movies or anything else related to books and literature.
As a side note: I will no longer be participating in the "In My Mailbox" meme or any alternative as these monthly posts will include similar content. I hope you enjoy reading these and please feel free to comment about your own bookish experience this month.

I realise now that acquiring 23 books in one month seems a tad much when I only read one every 2-3 days. My goal for May is to Keep Calm and Get Less Books (and read more from the ones I already have).
I went to see
The Hunger Games
(The Hunger Games #1 by Suzanne Collins)
One of my favourite scenes:

Then I watched That Guy With the Glasses review (the second video) which made me understand it a lot better (and for the curious: yes I did like it!).
I learned via Book Labyrinth that
(The Selection #1 by Kiera Cass)
will be turned into a TV show by one of my favourite networks, The CW. I don't know if I'll be watching it or not.
I missed both episodes of
The Secret Circle
(The Secret Circle by L.J. Smith)
and will be catching up on them in May.
Are you watching a tv show that is based off a book? Don't forget to vote for the book on my Goodreads listopia list: Books that are also tv shows
I had some great authors on this month including
(author of Cinder)
(author of Jaguar Sun)
(author of Incarnate)
There were some fun extras I posted like Kevin McGill's book launch into space and the Free Four short story from Veronica Roth
I hosted a giveaway/challenge for National Poetry Month but didn't get any entries. In hindsight, that's my fault for not promoting this more than I did. I have a lot of author giveaways in May so I wont be hosting anything new until at least June.
For the Award Winning Reads Challenge, I wrote a guest post for The Reading Housewives of Indiana. Since it was National Poetry Month I focused on the Newbery poets and gave you my Top 5 Reasons for Reading Poetry
I tried my hand at creating a book cover for the Fairy Tale Fortnight Create-a-cover challenge. I chose Beauty and the Beast and I like how it turned out, however, I am blown away by everyone else's entries.
I also co-hosted my very first giveaway hop: The Showers of Books Giveaway Hop (now over). Thank you so much to Kathy from I Am a Reader, Not a Writer for inviting me, to everyone who participated and hosted a giveaway on their blog, and to all my new readers/followers!
I learned that Rhiannon Paille will be at Polaris in Toronto (June 7-9) (Thanks Rhiannon for letting me know about it!). I am still not sure if I will be going. Right now it's all up to my husband. He is the huge Star Trek fan and since that seems to be the primary focus...Toronto is a bit of a drive (although not a huge stretch but he's the driver in the family, not me). I really want to meet Rhiannon though and any other fantasy/sci-fi authors that are taking part and as of now I am crossing my fingers!
I went to my public library 3 times and I also went to the bookstore twice (if you count the book department in Value Village as one) and had fun looking through the stacks.
I also read way too much about book blogging (and some particular bloggers) and hope that my curiosity has died down and I can move on...my head exploded...it's time to pick up the pieces!
I hope everyone had a lovely month!
Remember to leave a comment. I'd love to hear from you :)
