Bloodstone Saga Blog Tour & Giveaways: Captioned! Windsor Castle Inspiration

Welcome to the Bloodstone Saga Blog Tour! Every week of the tour features a different book in the series. This is the third week, and Courtney is talking about book #3, With My Last Breath.

Captioned! is a fun way for authors, bloggers, and readers to participate on the blog. The idea behind Captioned! is to showcase a short piece of fiction paired with or inspired by a photograph. If you would like to participate please go to this page for more details. Photos are provided by me or if you are feeling really ambitious you can find your own.

Our guest today, Courtney Cole is showcasing her fiction by sharing with us a photo of her inspiration. Check it out below!

Windsor Castle
I found a picture of Windsor castle that I thought I would use today.  It just seems like what King Arthur’s castle in Camelot might have looked like.

This particular picture is of one corner near a rose garden.  And in the beginning of With My Last Breath, there is a scene when Harmonia first returns to Camelot as Heleyne… where she and Sir Lucan (a previous life of Cadmus) sit out in the gardens.  This is almost exactly what I saw in my mind as I wrote that scene… only in my mind (and in the scene), it was dark.  The night was velvety smooth around them while dew formed on their skin.

In the end of Fated, there was a cliffhanger where Harmonia loses Cadmus… and she doesn’t know whether she will get him back.  She travels to Camelot in With My Last Breath, and this is where she first sits with him after losing him in Fated. She is relieved just to have him back for a short while- even though she knows it’s not really real, since it was a past life that would end.  Her sense of desperation is almost tangible, her broken heart gut-wrenching as she struggles to both save her husband in their true lives- but still enjoy their fleeting time in this past life.

About With My Last Breath

Just when Harmonia thought she had saved everyone she loved, the unthinkable happens and her life is shattered… in the space of just one breath.

Now, she is left alone to shoulder a challenge, because she alone can fulfill a prophecy and restore Olympus. She knows she can succeed; she is the daughter of gods, after all. But will doing so cause her to lose herself?

To find Zeus’ sword, she is forced to return to a place that she knows will cause her pain. But she willingly goes in order to save everyone she loves, because pain alone cannot kill her. Or can it?
