Friday Teasers: Book Beginnings and The Friday 56

I am teasing you today with...

Wolfsbane (Nightshade #2) by Andrea Cremer

When Calla Tor wakes up in the lair of the Searchers, her sworn enemies, she’s certain her days are numbered. But then the Searchers make her an offer—one that gives her the chance to destroy her former masters and save the pack—and the man—she left behind. Is Ren worth the price of her freedom? And will Shay stand by her side no matter what? Now in control of her own destiny, Calla must decide which battles are worth fighting and how many trials true love can endure and still survive.

Book Beginnings:

Book Beginnings on Friday is a weekly meme hosted by A Few More Pages where we answer the question, "So, what is the first line of your current read, and how did you like it?"

The first line is

I couldn't shut out the screams.

My impression:
What screams? What's happening? What does this have to do with the end of the first book? This is a very scary line to come in on the second book in a series. It made me wonder what it is about the first book that I have forgotten. Luckily for me a lot of the story is actually recapped within the first few chapters, but this first line actually had me worried.

The Friday 56

is hosted by Freda's Voice
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.

*Turn to page 56.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.

It's that simple.

On page 56 of Wolfsbane by Andrea Cremer:

It's blank!

Let's try again. Page 156:

"But how can they be human? They don't smell human and neither do you, for that matter? And what about all their powers?"

Official Teaser:

You can download an excerpt from www.nightshade.com thanks to Penguin Teen! (Those of you who haven't read book #1 can also download the first seven chapters of Nightshade)

I hope you are sufficiently "teased". So, what's your Book Beginning? What about your 56?
