The Friday 56

is hosted by Freda's Voice
Rules:
*Grab a book, any book.
*Turn to page 56.
*Find any sentence that grabs you.
*Post it.

It's that simple.

On page 56 of Orchards by Holly Thompson:
This is a novel-in-verse and doesn't have traditional sentences, so my pick from page 56 is one stanza.

when it seemed
that you didn't want me
or anyone else
to go out of our way
to have anything to do
with you?

This is one of those times, I wish I could share the whole page with you because everything on the page goes together like a puzzle. So sorry, but even though it seems like there's something missing at the beginning of this, that's the stanza!

  3. Freda, Holly Thompson's prose is some of the best I've read so far. It really has great rhythm which adds a lot of depth to the story.
